The Hot Spring:

Dike Hot Springs offer a really nice soak in a couple bath tubs looking out at the high desert in the far northern Black Rock Desert close to Denio.  The source spring is at the top of hill emerging at about 150 deg F and flows down forming a small hot creek and a frog pond at the base of the hill.  A pipe us used to bring the hot water to two bath tubs on wooden planks over the creek.  It only takes about one hour for the water to cool to soaking temperatures after the tubs are filled and they should be left empty to prevent algae buildup.  Technically Dyke is on private property but camping is allowed and an amazing night time soak can be had under the desert stars.
